Social Media & Engagement Examples

Content Creation

I’ve planned and created content across various platforms for The Palm Beach Post, the University of Florida, NPR and more with the goal of furthering engagement and introducing readers to new stories. Some examples of what I’ve done:

  • Social cards across platforms give readers a piece of shareable content or a new way of approaching a story that goes beyond a link post.

  • Instagram and Snapchat stories take students to unfamiliar places. In this Instagram story, I repurposed video of the best beach entrances. On this tour, we explored the interesting items of UF's special collections. On Halloween, we followed students up the stairs of UF’s Century Tower to see them perform for a carillon concert. And with this Instagram Story, we took our Instagram audience to a beloved street painting festival.

  • Twitter talk gives a deeper dive or a splash of personality to a project, whether it’s responding to incoming freshman on decision day, facilitating a UF-specific "build your own adventure” or giving further context to a Palm Beach Post story about a homeless community in Lake Worth Beach.

  • Real-life interactions (Crazy, right?) help us introduce ourselves to the community. At UF, I helped host a "gallery walk-through" of our favorite student Instagram photos at UF, handed encouraging messages with a hashtag to hardworking students in the library and on multiple occasions pitched a tent to say hello, with our newly crafted pins in hand as a way to start the interactions.

Social Language

  • I've always been a fan of playing with words. While working with The Palm Beach Post, NPR and frank gathering, I wrote social language on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, newsletters and push notifications. Even with limited characters or space, I aim to tell enough of a story so that readers decide to continue on to click the link or follow us for more.
